Commonly known as Fennel. Fennel is part of the Apiaceae (formerly Umbelliferaea). It is indigenous to the mediterranean region, but widely cultivated elsewhere.
Medicinal Use Fennel is a carminative, aromatic, antispasmodic and galactagogue. The seeds are used to relieve indigestion, wind and colic Fennel is also a galactagogue, which means that it promotes the production of breast milk - hence fennel increases lactation. |
